A little bit about me...
Hi guys, my name is Clare and I am the Founder and Resin Artist of Odonata Crystals, based in Southport, North West England.
On losing our family business due to COVID19, I was given the opportunity to re-evaluate my life and what was truly important to me. It has been so hard coming to terms with what my husband Dave and I had lost, given all the hard work, commitment and money we had put in to our photography business. Dave was the talented photographer and I assisted him with the admin amongst other things. We were at that stage where we were starting to make a name for ourselves in Southport and throughout Merseyside and Lancashire. We were finally becoming established after 6 years in the industry (and it is a tough industry to be in), being recognised as one of the top photography studios in Southport and winning awards in the process. We had a great time meeting and photographing some of the most amazing families, babies and not to mention the laughs we had with them and their pets! To have it all taken away from us in a matter of months with the first initial lockdown in 2020 was truly heart breaking. But it was out of our control and we had to find a way to accept what had happened and start rebuilding our lives.
It was through the love and support of my husband, family and friends during what has been (and for most people) a horrendous 2020, that I found my true calling. I wanted to find a way of helping people through my love of crystals, spiritual beliefs, interest in quantum physics and orgone (lifeforce) energy. Discovering the art of making Orgonites and working really hard on my skills as a resin artist, I decided to take the plunge and pursue a new career selling my own handmade Crystal Energy Pieces and Orgonite.
I have been on an incredible journey of self healing and development, staying positive and always believing that things happen for a reason. One of the things I did learn is to always look for the good in bad situations. I would never have found this inner creativity and self belief if it wasn’t for us losing our business.
Previous to opening our photography studio, I was fortunate enough to travel the world teaching Classical Ballet, living and working in countries like China, India, Vietnam and Egypt to name only a few. My teaching career was a natural progression from my profession as a Ballet Dancer where I toured with various ballet companies throughout the UK and Europe.
When Dave and I eventually moved back to the UK nearly 8 years ago, I decided to hang up my teaching shoes and commit to helping Dave run the photography business. I never thought for one second I would be able find something else which would trigger my creative side. I never thought I would find a new artistic passion, albeit a passion for arts and craft and incorporate the love and interest I have for crystals with their natural healing properties and interests mentioned earlier.
I started working really hard on my resin art from October 2020 and finally made the decision to open my new business Odonata Crystals in February 2021! I built up my stock making a variety of resin pieces including Jewellery, Crystal Energy Pyramids and Orgonite. I now offer custom made pieces and Memorial Pyramids (resin pieces which incorporate the ashes/personal inclusions of beloved family members or pets).
It is important to me to make my Orgonite pieces as authentic as possible. I use the highest quality resin along with the main core ingredients which are Quartz crystal and a variety of metals including brass, copper, iron, aluminium and metal powders. I also include a variety of other crystals into the matrix to enhance and vary the power of the Orgonite and Crystal Energy Pieces. These crystals include, Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Tourmaline, Red Jasper, Carnelian, Amber, Citrine, Tigers Eye, Green Agate, Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite and White Howlite.
I firmly believe the energies and intent I use in making my pieces resonate within them. My Crystals are regularly cleansed and charged under full moons and cleansing crystals. I always ensure I am in a calm, positive mood before starting my art, using meditation techniques in the process.
Every resin piece I create is made with the intention it will find the person who will benefit from it the most. They are made with love, care and enjoyment.
